Teething Fun
So Asher has officially started teething. He has swollen gums from time to time, loves his cold teething toys and really chomps on everything he puts in his mouth. We are glad to see he doesn't appear to be vegitarian. He is chewing on his toy cow. I thought it was particularly funny how he was just chewing on it without holding on to it. We will premier the tooth(s) as soon as they arrive. Should be very soon.

Peas...

So about a week ago we started peas. I chose peas because one of my reference books, Natural Baby and Childcare by Dr. Lauren Feder indicated that peas are high in fiber and since starting Rice cereal we have had a little trouble in the pooping department. He is just like his dad, he loves his peas. Okay, so the first couple of bites were rather comical in the faces he made, but he kept wanting more. He definitely loves his peas. I think this next week we might start with green beans. Yes, for now, I am preparing his baby food, but as most experienced moms know, this will end rather quickly. Oh, by the way, I was on my own for this photo shoot, so picture this, baby in the highchair with grabby hands, momma holding the camera in her left hand with her finger on the button, dish on the table and feeding with the right hand. We were both a little exhausted after this monumental experience. ENJOY!!

***For all those keeping up with us, no brother or sister as soon as we thought.:-) We will keep you posted, maybe later this summer.

Baby Dedication

So, Asher's dedication was awesome. We couldn't have received a better day. A huge thank you to all the prayers. Dad and Sylvia arrived at the park early to save our spot and David loaded everything up and the 3 of them set up while I anxiously waited at home while Asher took his AM nap. Grams came up early to baby sit so I could do the last minute shopping and finishing touches at the park. Asher slept until 12:00, which is not his normal schedule. Daddy says it was because he had to rest up for his big day. The day was beautiful, the sun came out for what seemed like the first time in weeks. I think I only held my baby once after arriving at the park. Thank you to all who joined us and a thank you to those who joined us only in our hearts. Starr family in Denver, you were greatly missed!!! Asher ended up falling asleep during Pastor Gary's explaination of a dedication and kept on sleeping while David passed him off for Gary to pray over him. After that we had cake from Costco (my favorite) and visited a little longer. By 3pm Mr. Asher was all tuckered out and hungry, so we rushed home, fed and took a nap. Thank you to all the family and friends that helped us clean up and helped David load up the truck. We are so blessed by the family and friend who surround us - we are greatful! Thank you to the Lord who truely blessed this day, His hand was evident in so many ways!

5 Months Old...Today!

For any keeping track, yeah, I did it - posted Asher's 5 month picture on his 5 month birthday. He is getting bigger and bigger every day. Not just in size, but in acomplishments. He is practicing sitting up, rolling over, loving cereal and enjoys peas (he gets that from his dad for sure - I hate peas!). Time is going by so fast. Today we also had his dedication. I will post pics from that soon.

The End of the Long Weekend

Okay, so it took me a week to finish the last day of David's 5 day weekend. Tuesday was a great day too. We took all my brother's kids to Magic Mountain. Nope, Asher didn't go, he had to skip this trip. He stayed home with his Aunt Michelle. Two of the boys wanted to go for their birthdays and we took the other two for a fun family day. It was very busy since they were only open from 10:30 - 6:00, so not a lot of picture taking. Also, the rides there are rather large so I couldn't get pictures of the kids on the actual rides except when we went to Loony Toon Land for Lauren while Nick the oldest(13) and Uncle David went off together and rode some huge rides. One being Superman which shoots your car 41 stories high at 100 miles a hour. It was a great day. At one point there was a toddler crying, and I thought I was going to run all the way home, but I called instead. Asher did great, he is such a great baby. The picture of the lizard doesn't really do it justice, try and see if you can find the end of his tail - it was super long. More first to come...

A First of Many Firsts

Well at Asher's 4 month check up the doctor said when I felt Asher was ready for cereal I could start him out and see how he does with it. So, I had been noticing for a few weeks that he is very observant of David and I when we are eating and the past couple of weeks he has been finishing his bottles in 10 minutes or less and seems to still be hungry. I bought a box of rice cereal at Walmart a week or more ago, but still wasn't ready for that big step. I also didn't have a high chair yet, still don't. I had to borrow one. I didn't want to try and feed him in his bouncy - those feet never stop moving. I didn't want to try and do it in his infant car seat either since I anticipated a mess. So luckily I was able to borrow one. He continued to appear more hungry, so when we came home from our weekend at the beach we attempted rice cereal from a bowl. He did great! Not too big of a mess. So that was Monday afternoon and he has had cereal with his 2nd AM bottle Wednesday and today. He is doing better and better with the spoon and seems to enjoy it. He is getting big so fast. Isn't there a way to slow things down. He is getting more hair too, so he doesn't look like a baby really any more. Thankfully I don't think those cheeks will ever change - they will always be the most kissable, cutest cheeks ever!!

Beach Weekend

A couple people asked what the weather was suppose to be like at the beach and my response was, "Yucky weather, so we will have a lot of time to relax." I was spot on! The weather as you will notice in these pictures was overcast all the time. We did a lot of relaxing, reading, playing cards, etc. Fabulous!! Saturday was colder than the rest of the days, hence the bundle up look on us all when we took Asher out in his wagon. We were so excited to use the wagon. We saw them at Costco last summer and went back and forth about buying it. At the end of the summer a good friend of ours called around because she decided she wanted one too. She called me to see if we wanted one, so we ended up having her pick one up for us too. So, we have had this wagon since last August. David and I have been anxiously awaiting the day we would be able to use it. Sunday, David's Dad and Sylvia came down and took us to the Hotel Del Coronado. It was a nice treat and we took some pictures. My favorite is the one of Asher where he looks like he held the camera out in front of him to take his own picture. The last picture is with his Giraffe; he likes it because it is soft all over and easy for him to grab and stick in his mouth. He especially likes the ears and hornish things on the top of the head. I didn't know Giraffes had horns. Anyway, it was a great camping trip and we can't wait to go back. We are looking forward to the rest of the summer trips we have planned. David had a 5 day weekend this weekend, so stay tuned for more fun...
